Hello and welcome! Here's me (thru music)

I'm Hadiza. I make music under my first name and as 1/2 of Collidescope. Call me an 'experimental' musician, songwriter, composer. Cool, whatever. I sing, I play keys, I fonk around with some beats, I play a little bass, I play a little drums (oh and do they SATISFY). The solo music I make, as Hadiza (with a period) I like to call "Diaspora Gothic". Without getting into what it 'sounds' like, Diaspora Gothic is an ever strengthening channel through which I connect and convene with my ancestors who resisted patriarchy... the ones who were forced from the center and who made up the circumference, and the ones who never left the bush.
I'm working on my second album called Diaspora Gothic. It's a follow up to my first album Shadow Weight (available everywhere). I'll be sure to let neocities know once Diaspora Gothic the album is ready. You can hear my first release, a four track EP called Gone released Dec 2018 on Bandcamp.

Collidescope is my other music project between me and my best friend/music life partner and roommate Madi, (who makes music solo as Babydoll). We formed in my home town Iowa City, fall of 2016. We didn't have a name till our first show, and I think that was early 2017. We started out making downtempo "soulgaze" music, and have come quite a long way from that since. We've got four releases, including our Final Release (June 2025) DEEP TAPE 2. If you listen through you can probably get a sense of the development of our sound. Our previous three releases (in chronological order) are titled Systemic, DEEP TAPE and Funhouse. Collidescope is now on indefinite hiatus, but we got something rumbling from beneath the ground...
